Set between the foothills of Exmoor National Park and the Somerset coast, Dunster is probably the largest and most intact medieval village in England. We are a national treasure!
Dominated by Dunster Castle (whose origins go back a 1,000 years), Dunster has a wealth of history to discover, including the iconic Yarn Market, the remains of a Benedictine priory, a Working Watermill, Packhorse Bridge and Iron Age settlements. It has such a fascinating history, in fact, that Time Team Dig Village chose it as its first village to investigate!
Dunster is a very special and unique place. From the village you can take a number of stunning walks into the Exmoor hills, and it makes a great base to explore the rest of Exmoor and North Devon.
