Welcome to Dunster

Welcome to Dunster

A fairy tale castle perched high on a hill. An iconic Yarn Market. Charming shop fronts nestled side-by-side upon cobbled streets. A church with a famous carillon of bells. A water mill, dovecote and tithe barn. An ancient packhorse bridge snaking across the River Avill. Rose-covered thatched cottages. A Victorian folly rising from Conygar Hill, with panoramic views to coast and countryside. A puffing steam train completes the scene.

Welcome to Dunster, one of England’s most beautiful and fascinating medieval villages.
Whether you stay for an hour or two, a weekend, or longer, there’s so much to discover.

And if you have a special occasion to celebrate, Dunster has everything you need to make memories!

Throughout Autumn and Winter, we’ve got lots of events happening at the Dunster Tithe Barn, which is an all-weather, historic community venue in the heart of the village. Click here for their Facebook page which contains a calendar of upcoming events.

During October, we also have major roadworks on the A39 in the neighbouring village of Carhampton. For all the latest information, keep watching the Discover Dunster facebook page and pinned posts for diversion routes.

We look forward to welcoming you to our village.
